Sha’Carri Richardson won the 100 meters at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials, qualifying her for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Shortly after her race, Richardson tested positive for cannabis use and was barred from competing in the Tokyo Olympics.
Supervisors Matt Haney and Walton introduced the resolution condemning Richardson's suspension and urging changes to cannabis classification.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution condemning the suspension of Sha’Carri Richardson.
The resolution was returned unsigned by the Mayor but became effective without her approval.
