How it got here
The legislation originated from a request by the Elections Commission to allow City employees to assist with the Gubernatorial Recall Election.
The Elections Commission requested the Board of Supervisors to waive the prohibition on City employees assisting with election functions as outlined in Charter Section 13.104.5.
Supervisor Walton introduced a motion to authorize City employees to assist the Department of Elections for the upcoming Gubernatorial Recall Election.
The Board of Supervisors approved the motion, waiving the prohibition and allowing City employees to assist with the election.
