Ordinance amending the Planning Code to designate One Montgomery Street (aka 1-25 Montgomery Street), Crocker National Bank Building, Assessor’s Parcel Block No. 0292, Lot Nos. 001A and 002, as a Landmark consistent with the standards set forth in Article 10 of the Planning Code; affirming the Planning Department’s determination under the California Environmental Quality Act; and making public necessity, convenience, and welfare findings under Planning Code, Section 302, and findings of consistency with the General Plan, and the eight priority policies of Planning Code, Section 101.1.
How it got here
The legislation to designate One Montgomery Street as a landmark originated from a resolution initiated by Supervisor Peskin in early 2021.
The Board adopted Resolution No. 011-21 to initiate the landmark designation process for One Montgomery Street, which was approved by the Mayor on January 22, 2021.
The Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the historical significance of One Montgomery Street and recommended its designation as a landmark through Resolution No. 1195.
The Planning Department transmitted the recommendation and supporting documents to the Board of Supervisors for further consideration.
The committee held a public hearing to consider the ordinance amending the Planning Code to designate One Montgomery Street as a landmark.
The Board of Supervisors passed the ordinance on first reading, which was sponsored by Supervisors Peskin and Safai.
The Board of Supervisors finally passed the ordinance designating One Montgomery Street as a landmark.
Mayor London N. Breed approved the ordinance, finalizing the landmark designation.
