How it got here
This legislation originated from a partnership between the Recreation and Park Department and the San Francisco Parks Alliance to secure funding for community support activities.
An MOU was signed to set new processes for coordinating and reporting on annual support from the Parks Alliance, approved by the City Attorney and the Recreation and Park Commission.
The Recreation and Park Commission approved the MOU during its meeting, which included a commitment to seek Board of Supervisors approval for the annual support budget.
The Commission unanimously voted by Resolution No. 2106-001 to recommend that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Recreation and Park Department to accept the grant.
The Parks Alliance confirmed it would contribute up to $118,000 to the Recreation and Park Department for annual support from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
The Commission voted unanimously by Resolution No. 2108-003 to authorize the Department to accept the first $25,000 of the grant to support the Greenagers program.
The resolution to accept and expend the grant was received and assigned to the appropriate committee.
The resolution was substituted and reassigned for further consideration.
The resolution was transferred to the Government Audit and Oversight Committee for review.
