Supervisors Haney and Walton introduced a resolution urging state and federal leaders to support Afghan evacuees and their families in transitioning to life in the U.S.
The Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 458-21, which called for increased support for Afghan refugees and their families.
The Mayor returned the resolution unsigned, which allowed it to become effective without her approval due to the time limit set by the Charter.
The Clerk of the Board transmitted the adopted resolution to key federal and state leaders, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
