Taylor Press Room,” in honor of legendary reporter Barbara Ann Taylor (1947 - 2020), whose significant contributions to journalism and San Francisco civic life while serving as the KCBS City Hall bureau chief for more than 30 years have set the standard for integrity and professionalism.
How it got here
The legislation to name the San Francisco City Hall press room after Barbara A. Taylor originated from a collective effort by several Supervisors to honor her contributions to journalism.
Supervisors Peskin, Mandelman, Chan, Melgar, Safai, Ronen, Preston, Stefani, and Walton introduced a resolution to name the City Hall press room after Barbara A. Taylor.
The Board of Supervisors amended the resolution and adopted it, declaring the intent to name the press room 'The Barbara A. Taylor Press Room'.
The Mayor returned the resolution unsigned, which allowed it to become effective without her approval.
