How it got here
The legislation originated from a request by Bottle Bacchanal, LLC to transfer a liquor license, prompted by the need for a specialty liquor store in the Castro neighborhood.
Beth Hughes of Bottle Bacchanal filed an application for a Conditional Use Authorization with the Planning Department to establish a liquor store at 4126-18th Street.
The Planning Commission authorized the Conditional Use Authorization for Bottle Bacchanal, allowing the liquor store use in the Castro Street NCD.
The Clerk referred the liquor license application to the Planning and Police Departments for their review and recommendations.
The Planning Department confirmed that the area is properly zoned and recommended approval of the liquor license transfer.
The Police Department filed a response with zero protests and recommended that the liquor license be issued with a condition to monitor the area for loitering.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution determining that the liquor license transfer serves the public convenience or necessity.
