Hearing to discuss the increased efforts to criminalize individuals suffering from substance use disorder; and to provide data on how many individuals have been arrested, the results of those arrests, the impact of this effort on the health of drug users, the impact of this effort on service providers and use of harm reduction services, and how the police are complying with state laws that protect harm reduction materials from confiscation by police; and requesting the Mayor's Office, Police Department, Office of the District Attorney, Department of Emergency Management, Sheriff's Department, Office of the Public Defender, Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, and Department of Public Health to report.
