How it got here
The legislation originated from a grant awarded to the San Francisco Department of Public Health to support the Justice-Involved Capacity Building Program.
DHCS received federal approval under the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) 1115 Demonstration to disseminate capacity building funds for the Justice-Involved Reentry Initiative.
SFDPH submitted an application for the PATH Justice-Involved Capacity Building Program grant, seeking $2,597,683 to support pre-release Medi-Cal services.
DHCS notified SFDPH of the approval of the grant application, awarding $2,597,683 for the period from August 29, 2023, to December 31, 2026.
SFDPH received approval of the final budget from DHCS, allowing them to proceed with the grant acceptance process.
After completing the fiscal approvals process, SFDPH submitted the grant acceptance packet to the Mayor's Office for introduction to the Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution to retroactively authorize SFDPH to accept and expend the grant funds.
