How it got here
The legislation originated from the need for additional funding to support the Department of Public Health's HIV prevention efforts in response to a grant from the CDC.
The CDC awarded the San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH) $898,776 for the Capacity Building Assistance for High-Impact HIV Prevention program, covering the period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024.
DPH received a notice from the CDC on March 18, 2024, approving an additional $225,730 for the program, extending the funding period to June 30, 2024.
Following the CDC's notification, DPH prepared the necessary documentation to seek retroactive approval for the grant increase, which was submitted to the Controller's Office for review.
DPH submitted the resolution to the Board of Supervisors for retroactive approval to accept and expend the grant funds, following the completion of the fiscal approval process.
The Budget and Finance Committee recommended the resolution for approval to the Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution, allowing DPH to retroactively accept and expend the total grant amount of $1,124,506.
Mayor Breed approved the resolution, finalizing the authorization for DPH to utilize the grant funds.
