How it got here
The legislation originated from the need to extend and increase funding for pretrial services provided by the San Francisco Pretrial Diversion Project, following a competitive selection process initiated by the Sheriff's Office.

The Board approved the original contract with the San Francisco Pretrial Diversion Project for a total of $18,764,430 over three years, with options to extend.
The Board approved the fourth amendment to the contract, increasing the total amount to $19,763,114 to cover additional costs of doing business.
The Civil Service Commission approved the amendment to the personal services contract for pretrial services, allowing for further funding increases.
