How it got here
The legislation originated from the need to amend the Park Code regarding the use of Yerba Buena Gardens following management observations by the Yerba Buena Gardens Conservancy.
The City acquired Yerba Buena Gardens from the Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure, placing it under the jurisdiction of the Real Estate Division.
The City entered into a Master Lease Agreement with the Yerba Buena Gardens Conservancy for the management and operation of the Gardens through 2061.
The Director of Real Estate submitted a proposal to amend the Park Code to allow dogs and certain athletic activities in the Gardens, addressing issues noted by the Conservancy.
The Land Use and Transportation Committee recommended the ordinance for passage.
The Board of Supervisors passed the ordinance on first reading.
