How it got here
The legislation originated from the need to delegate contract approval authority for the Transbay Project to the Department of Public Works, following prior redevelopment plans and legal requirements.
The Board approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Transbay Project Area by Ordinance No. 124-05.
The Board approved additional aspects of the Redevelopment Plan by Ordinance No. 99-06.
Assembly Bill 26 dissolved the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and established successor agencies to manage ongoing obligations.
The Department approved the Transbay Redevelopment Project Implementation Agreement as an enforceable obligation.
The Mayor introduced the ordinance to delegate approval authority to the Department of Public Works for contracts with OCII for the Transbay Project.
The Budget and Finance Committee recommended the ordinance for approval.
The Board of Supervisors finally passed the ordinance, delegating contract approval authority to the Department of Public Works.
