How it got here
The legislation originated from the need to extend and increase funding for refuse collection services provided by Recology to the City of San Francisco.
The City entered into a contract with Recology for refuse collection services for a total amount of $5.6 million, initially set for seven months until June 30, 2021.
The contract was amended to extend the term to November 30, 2021, and increase the not-to-exceed amount to $9.9 million.
The Board approved an amendment extending the contract to June 30, 2022, with a new not-to-exceed amount of $15.6 million.
The contract was extended to June 30, 2024, with an increased not-to-exceed amount of $39.6 million.
The Board approved an amendment extending the contract to October 31, 2024, and increasing the not-to-exceed amount to $43.8 million.
The Board approved a sixth amendment to increase the contract amount by $1.5 million for a total of $45.3 million and extend the term to December 31, 2024.
