Resolution declaring September 15, 2024, through October 15, 2024, as “Latinx Heritage Month” in the City and County of San Francisco to honor and to celebrate the contributions of the Latinx community.
How it got here
The resolution declaring September 15, 2024, through October 15, 2024, as 'Latinx Heritage Month' originated from a collective effort by several Supervisors to honor the contributions of the Latinx community in San Francisco.
Supervisors Melgar, Ronen, Safai, Walton, Chan, Peskin, Preston, Mandelman, Engardio, and Stefani introduced the resolution to declare Latinx Heritage Month.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution, recognizing the contributions of the Latinx community and declaring the month of September 15 to October 15 as Latinx Heritage Month.
The Mayor returned the resolution unsigned, which allowed it to become effective without her approval due to the time limit set by the Charter.
