How it got here
The legislation to establish the 2301 Chestnut Street Special Sign District originated from a need to allow additional signage for businesses on a prominent corner in San Francisco.
Supervisor Stefani introduced the proposed ordinance to amend the Planning Code and Zoning Map to create a Special Sign District at 2301 Chestnut Street.
The Planning Commission held a public hearing and adopted a recommendation for approval with modifications, allowing corner commercial businesses in NC Districts to have two projecting signs.
The Planning Department determined that the ordinance complies with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and is not defined as a project under CEQA Guidelines.
The Clerk of the Board received the Planning Commission's recommendation for the ordinance, which was incorporated into the legislative process.
The Land Use and Transportation Committee recommended the ordinance for passage.
The Board of Supervisors finally passed the ordinance, establishing the 2301 Chestnut Street Special Sign District.
