How it got here
This legislation originated from the need for San Francisco to apply for funding under the Prohousing Incentive Program to support housing and community development initiatives.
California Government Code, Section 65589.9 established the Prohousing Designation Program to incentivize jurisdictions compliant with state housing element requirements.
The Department issued a Notice of Funding Availability and guidelines for the Prohousing Incentive Program, making approximately $8,000,000 available for grants.
The City adopted a Housing Element that complies with California Government Code Section 65585(h) and obtained a Prohousing Designation.
The Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development prepared a grant application package to submit to the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
The Budget and Finance Committee recommended the resolution for the grant application to the Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution authorizing the application for the Prohousing Incentive Program grant.
The Mayor approved the resolution, allowing the application for the grant to proceed.
