How it got here

Supervisor Mandelman proposed the formation of a behavioral health beds workgroup to address the shortage of treatment capacity for individuals with severe mental illness.
Following the passage of Proposition 1, the Mayor and Supervisor Mandelman announced the formation of the San Francisco Residential Care and Treatment Workgroup to develop strategic recommendations.
The Workgroup held its first meeting to discuss the challenges and strategies for expanding residential treatment for individuals with complex behavioral health needs.
The Department of Public Health submitted an application for Proposition 1 grant funds to cover capital costs for new behavioral health residential projects.
The Controller's Office released the final report of the Residential Care and Treatment Workgroup, outlining findings and recommendations for expanding behavioral health placements.
