How it got here
The legislation originated from a need to update the Planning Code to improve the priority processing program for certain commercial uses in San Francisco.
Mayor Lurie introduced an ordinance to amend the Planning Code to update eligibility requirements for the priority processing program for certain commercial uses.
The ordinance was referred to the Planning Department and other relevant departments for review and comment.
The Planning Department determined that the actions contemplated in the ordinance comply with the California Environmental Quality Act.
The Small Business Commission supported the legislation, noting it would allow businesses in North Beach and Calle 24 to benefit from priority processing.
The Planning Commission adopted Resolution No. 21762, finding the ordinance consistent with the General Plan and recommending approval.
The committee amended the ordinance and recommended it for passage by the Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors finally passed the ordinance, which updates the Planning Code for priority processing of commercial uses.
