How it got here

The Recreation and Park Commission voted 5 to 1 to recommend that the Board of Supervisors authorize the SFMTA to charge for parking in Golden Gate Park as part of the proposed budget for fiscal years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027.
The Mayor's Office submitted the proposed budget for FY 2025-26 and FY 2026-27, which included the authorization for paid parking in Golden Gate Park to help cover operating expenses.
The Planning Department determined that the proposed paid parking actions comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The Budget and Appropriations Committee recommended the resolution to the Board of Supervisors for implementation of paid parking in Golden Gate Park.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution authorizing the SFMTA to set parking rates in Golden Gate Park.
