Following the federal recognition, Mayor London Breed signed an order declaring June 19 an official holiday in San Francisco, encouraging participation in Juneteenth events.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution celebrating Juneteenth, urging all San Franciscans to honor this important day.
The resolution was returned unsigned by the Mayor, becoming effective without his approval due to the time limit set forth in the Charter.
