This legislation originated as a resolution to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the opening of the San Francisco Disability Cultural Center.
The San Francisco Disability Cultural Center, the nation’s first municipally funded disability center, opened to honor the contributions of the disability community.
Supervisors Mandelman, Chen, Engardio, Melgar, Mahmood, Walton, Fielder, Dorsey, Sherrill, Chan, and Sauter introduced a resolution celebrating the ADA and recognizing disability rights leaders.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution celebrating the 35th anniversary of the ADA and the opening of the Disability Cultural Center.
The Mayor returned the resolution unsigned, which became effective without his approval due to the time limit set by the Charter.
