Supervisors Mahmood, Mandelman, Walton, Dorsey, Chen, Fielder, Sherrill, Sauter, Engardio, and Chan introduced the resolution to declare July 18 through August 17, 2025, as South Asian American Heritage Month.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution, affirming the cultural, religious, and linguistic richness of the South Asian community.
The Mayor returned the resolution unsigned, which allowed it to become effective without his approval.
