This resolution officially designates September 27, 2025, as Chuseok Festival Day and October 6, 2025, as Korean Chuseok Day in San Francisco. This legislation originated from a recognition of the cultural significance of Chuseok and the contributions of the Korean Center, Inc. to the Korean American community in San Francisco.
The Korean Center, Inc. organized the Seventh Annual Bay Area Korean Chuseok Festival, highlighting the importance of Chuseok in the Korean community.
Supervisors Sherrill, Melgar, Sauter, Engardio, Dorsey, Mandelman, Chan, Walton, Chen, Mahmood, and Fielder introduced the resolution to recognize Chuseok Festival Day and Korean Chuseok Day.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution recognizing September 27, 2025, as Chuseok Festival Day and October 6, 2025, as Korean Chuseok Day.
The Mayor returned the resolution unsigned, which allowed it to become effective without his approval.
