The Department of Building Inspection introduced the ordinance to repeal the 2022 Plumbing Code and enact the 2025 Plumbing Code, which includes local amendments to the California Plumbing Code.
The Building Inspection Commission held a public hearing and unanimously recommended the adoption of the 2025 Plumbing Code amendments.
The Planning Department determined that the actions contemplated in the ordinance comply with the California Environmental Quality Act.
The Land Use and Transportation Committee recommended the ordinance for passage to the Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors passed the ordinance on first reading.
The Board of Supervisors finally passed the ordinance, which was then approved by the Mayor on November 21, 2025.
The new 2025 Plumbing Code will become operative, replacing the 2022 Plumbing Code.
