How it got here
The legislation originated from the need to facilitate the Microsoft Ignite 2025 event in San Francisco.
The Transportation Code, Article 6, requires a permit from ISCOTT for the temporary use and occupancy of public streets for events.
Microsoft Ignite, an annual event, is scheduled to be held for the first time in San Francisco in November 2025, expected to attract over 17,000 visitors.
The Board adopted Resolution No. 452-25, authorizing the temporary closure of sidewalks on Howard Street for the event, subject to ISCOTT issuing a permit.
The Mayor approved the resolution, allowing the sidewalk closure to proceed as planned for the event.
