Ordinance amending the Planning Code to add a new Appendix P to Article 10, Preservation of Historical, Architectural, and Aesthetic Landmarks, to create the Chula-Abbey Early Residential Historic District; affirming the Planning Department’s determination under the California Environmental Quality Act; and making public necessity, convenience, and welfare findings under Planning Code, Section 302, and findings of consistency with the General Plan, and the eight priority policies of Planning Code, Section 101.1.

Supervisor Mandelman introduced a resolution to initiate the landmark district designation process for the Chula-Abbey Early Residential District.

The Board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution to initiate the landmark district designation.

The Historic Preservation Commission adopted Resolution No. 1497, recommending the designation of the Chula-Abbey Early Residential District as a landmark district.

The Planning Commission adopted Resolution No. 21858, finding the proposed amendments consistent with the City's General Plan and recommending the Board adopt the designation.

The Planning Department determined that the actions contemplated in the ordinance comply with the California Environmental Quality Act.

The Land Use and Transportation Committee recommended the ordinance for approval to the full Board of Supervisors.

The Board of Supervisors finally passed the ordinance designating the Chula-Abbey Early Residential Historic District.
