Ordinance amending the Landmark Designation for Landmark No. 61, Sylvester House located at 1556 Revere Avenue, Assessor’s Parcel Block No. 5340, Lot No. 006, under Article 10 of the Planning Code, to rename the landmark and recognize the restoration and stewardship of former owner Linda Blacketer; affirming the Planning Department’s determination under the California Environmental Quality Act; and making public necessity, convenience, and welfare findings under Planning Code, Section 302, and findings of consistency with the General Plan, and the eight priority policies of Planning Code, Section 101.1.

The Sylvester House was designated as Landmark No. 61 under Article 10 of the Planning Code by Ordinance No. 124-74.

The Board adopted Resolution No. 070-26, introduced by Supervisor Walton, to initiate an amendment to the landmark designation of the Sylvester House to recognize Linda Blacketer's restoration efforts.

The Mayor signed the approved Resolution No. 070-26, allowing the amendment process to proceed.

The Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the proposed amendment and recommended approval through Resolution No. 1562, recognizing the historical significance and restoration of the Sylvester House.

The ordinance amending the landmark designation was received from the Planning Department.

A public hearing was noticed for the Land Use and Transportation Committee to consider the ordinance amending the landmark designation.

The ordinance is currently pending committee action and will be reviewed in a public hearing scheduled for September 21, 2026.
