Ordinance amending the Planning Code to designate the Lange House, located at 199 Carl Street, Assessor’s Parcel Block No. 1273, Lot No. 034, on the south side of Carl Street between Stanyan and Shrader Streets, as a landmark consistent with the standards set forth in Article 10 of the Planning Code; affirming the Planning Department’s determination under the California Environmental Quality Act; and making public necessity, convenience, and welfare findings under Planning Code, Section 302, and findings of consistency with the General Plan, and the eight priority policies of Planning Code, Section 101.1.
How it got here
The legislation to designate the Lange House as a landmark originated from a resolution initiated by the Board of Supervisors and was subsequently reviewed and recommended by the Historic Preservation Commission.
The Board adopted Resolution No. 109-26 to initiate the landmark designation of the Lange House.
The Mayor approved the initiation resolution for the landmark designation of the Lange House.
The Historic Preservation Commission reviewed the historical significance of the Lange House and recommended its designation as a landmark by Resolution No. 1597.
The Planning Department transmitted the recommendation from the Historic Preservation Commission to the Board of Supervisors.
The Planning Department submitted the case for the Lange House to the Board of Supervisors for further consideration.
A public hearing was scheduled to consider the ordinance designating the Lange House as a landmark.
The ordinance is currently at the first reading stage in the Board of Supervisors.
