A formal position or approval by the Board: Allow the Recreation and Park Department (RPD) to enter into an agreement with the San Francisco Downtown Development Corporation (DDC) regarding potential improvements and renovations at Embarcadero Plaza and Sue Bierman Park.
Resolution authorizing the Recreation and Park Department (RPD) to enter into an agreement with the San Francisco Downtown Development Corporation (DDC) regarding potential improvements and renovations at Embarcadero Plaza and Sue Bierman Park; and to accept cash grants of approximately $20,000,000 for the project, for the period starting on the execution date of the agreement through December 2028; and authorizing the RPD to enter into amendments or modifications to the agreement provided they do not materially increase the obligations or liabilities of the City and are necessary to effectuate the purposes of the Project or this Resolution.
How it got here
The legislation originated from a partnership between the Recreation and Park Department and the San Francisco Downtown Development Corporation to renovate Embarcadero Plaza and Sue Bierman Park.
RPD entered into a Grant Acceptance Agreement with the Office of Economic and Workforce Development and other partners for funding and development of the park renovation project.
The DDC was founded to revitalize downtown San Francisco and agreed to lead fundraising efforts for the park project.
The Recreation and Park Commission adopted Resolution No. 2605-011 recommending the Board of Supervisors authorize RPD to accept and expend the grant from the DDC.
RPD submitted the necessary documents to the Board of Supervisors to facilitate the acceptance and expenditure of the grant for the park renovation.
The Board of Supervisors received and assigned the resolution authorizing RPD to enter into an agreement with the DDC for the park project.
