How it got here
This legislation originated from a grant agreement between the Human Rights Commission and the Center for Immigration, which serves as the fiscal sponsor for Parivar Bay Area, aimed at supporting LGBTQI+ and various communities in San Francisco.
The Human Rights Commission issued Request for Proposals #85 to provide funding for projects targeting underserved communities, including LGBTQI+ populations.
The HRC executed a grant agreement with the Center for Immigration, fiscal sponsor for Parivar Bay Area, for $300,000 to support advocacy and leadership development programming.
The initial grant agreement expired, but the Center for Immigration continued to operate under the terms of the agreement despite the expiration.
TransCanWork became the new fiscal sponsor for Parivar Bay Area, taking over responsibilities from the Center for Immigration.
The HRC justified the need for a grant amendment to reimburse services provided by Parivar Bay Area during the period following the expiration of the initial grant agreement.
