Ordinance amending the Planning Code to designate Mr. Cudworth’s House, located at 2032-2040 Union Street, Assessor’s Parcel Block No. 0532, Lot No. 010, on the north side of Union Street between Buchanan Street and Webster Street, as a landmark consistent with the standards set forth in Article 10 of the Planning Code; affirming the Planning Department’s determination under the California Environmental Quality Act; and making public necessity, convenience, and welfare findings under Planning Code, Section 302, and findings of consistency with the General Plan, and the eight priority policies of Planning Code, Section 101.1.
How it got here
The legislation to designate Mr. Cudworth’s House as a landmark originated from a broader initiative by the Planning Department to preserve significant historical properties in San Francisco.
Supervisor Stephen Sherrill initiated the landmark designation for Mr. Cudworth’s House as part of the Family Zoning Plan Landmark Designation Program.
The Board adopted Resolution No. 167-26 to initiate the landmark designation process for Mr. Cudworth’s House.
Mayor Daniel Lurie approved the resolution initiating the landmark designation.
The HPC held a public hearing and voted to recommend the landmark designation of Mr. Cudworth’s House to the Board of Supervisors.
The Clerk of the Board received the recommendation from the Historic Preservation Commission for the landmark designation.
The proposed ordinance was assigned under the 30-day rule for further consideration by the Board of Supervisors.
