Ordinance amending the Planning Code to designate the Lincoln Grill, located at 2049-2051 Fillmore Street, Assessor’s Parcel Block No. 0654, Lot No. 001A, on the west side of Fillmore Street between Pine Street and California Street, as a landmark consistent with the standards set forth in Article 10 of the Planning Code; affirming the Planning Department’s determination under the California Environmental Quality Act; and making public necessity, convenience, and welfare findings under Planning Code, Section 302, and findings of consistency with the General Plan, and the eight priority policies of Planning Code, Section 101.1.
How it got here
The legislation to designate the Lincoln Grill as a landmark originated from a broader initiative by the San Francisco Planning Department to preserve significant historical resources.
Supervisor Stephen Sherrill initiated the landmark designation process for fifteen properties, including the Lincoln Grill, as part of the Family Zoning Plan Landmark Designation Program.
The Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 169-26 to initiate the landmark designation of the Lincoln Grill, which was subsequently approved by Mayor Daniel Lurie on March 26, 2026.
The Historic Preservation Commission held a public hearing and voted to recommend the landmark designation of the Lincoln Grill to the Board of Supervisors.
The Clerk of the Board received the recommendation from the Historic Preservation Commission for the landmark designation of the Lincoln Grill.
