How it got here
This legislation originated from the need to certify that certain city services can be contracted out at a lower cost than if performed by city employees, as mandated by Proposition J.
The Controller, Greg Wagner, certified that various department services can be performed by private contractors at a lower cost than by city employees, fulfilling the requirements of Charter Section 10.104.15.
The Mayor's Office submitted the proposed budget for FY 2025-26, including the Proposition J certification for contracted services.
The Budget and Appropriations Committee recommended the resolution for passage, concurring with the Controller's certification.
The Board of Supervisors continued the item for further discussion before final approval.
