How it got here
This legislation originated from the need for the San Francisco Police Department to enhance its Real Time Investigation Center through a gift of office space from Ripple Labs, Inc.
Voters approved Proposition E, which allowed the Police Department to use technology to enhance public safety and established the framework for the Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC).
Ripple Labs executed a sublease agreement with the City for office space at 315 Montgomery Street to support the RTIC.
The Police Commission adopted Resolution No. 25-44, urging the Board of Supervisors to accept gifts from Ripple Labs and the San Francisco Police Community Foundation to support the RTIC.
The Police Department submitted a resolution to the Board of Supervisors to accept and expend an in-kind gift of office space valued at approximately $2,131,543 from Ripple Labs.
The Budget and Finance Committee recommended the resolution to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution authorizing the Police Department to accept and expend the in-kind gift from Ripple Labs.
The Mayor approved the resolution, finalizing the acceptance of the in-kind gift for the RTIC.
