How it got here
This legislation originated from the need to enhance the San Francisco Police Department's Real Time Investigation Center (RTIC) through significant technological upgrades funded by the San Francisco Police Community Foundation.
Voters approved Proposition E, allowing the Police Department to utilize technology to improve public safety and combat crime, which led to the establishment of the RTIC.
The Police Commission authorized the acceptance of gifts from the San Francisco Police Community Foundation and Ripple Labs, Inc. to support the RTIC.
The Police Department submitted a resolution to the Board of Supervisors to accept and expend an in-kind gift valued at approximately $7,250,028 for the RTIC.
The Mayor's Office submitted the resolution to the Board of Supervisors for approval to accept and expend the gifts for the RTIC.
The Budget and Finance Committee reviewed and recommended the resolution as amended for acceptance of the gifts.
The Board of Supervisors adopted the resolution authorizing the Police Department to accept and expend the gifts for the RTIC.
